We have a tree nursery in Lower Yatta district near Kitui with a capacity of producing up to 500,000 tree seedlings a year of various species like Melia volkensii. The main aim of seedling production is to plant them in field and to sell them to companies and civil society organizations willing to upscale afforestation
Cereals and pulses
We grow maize (dry and green), green grams, and beans. Only maize can be grown during the dry season on irrigation systems.
We have very high knowledge on soils conservation techniques through pasture production. Maize are for emergency feeding to animals, but in case of surpluses, compositing is done using maize stalks, vegetable crop residues.
Vegetables and fruits
The vegetable prices vary with the region, types and local conditions. Types of vegetables grown include African kales (sukuma wiki), and spinach, egg plants, paprika (pilipili hoho), hot peppers (pilipili kali), tomatoes (nyanya), cucumbers, water melons, carrots, onions and dhania (coriander).
Watch the documentary how it all started. Roeland Lelieveld started planting trees in Kenya to save the environment and people from drought shortages.
We offer consultancy on areas such as landscaping, environment and natural resources, environment monitoring and evaluation of related projects.
The international communities have adopted trees that are planted on their behalf on a selected piece of land and sustained through the money donated. The local communities are willing to plant trees on their homesteads, schools, churches and hospitals. This collaboration will bring up a tremendous increase in tree cover in wastelands.
Composting of wastes from the farm and crop residues is done at the farm, in order to plough back nutrients into the soil. Proper techniques are applied to make sure that little is lost through leaching and volatilization of nutrients. Farmers are trained on how to practice the same fertilizer production in their farms.
